Good day, Jessie T. Wolf.

I visited your LJ today after meeting up with Skandranon in Ohio this past weekend. We briefly talked about Toronto, and Skan listed off a couple of people who have moved out of the area (yourself included). I wanted to poke around your LJ for a little bit, just to find out how you were doing. I stumbled across your most recent post and bleah'ed at the email(s) you have received from this particular person, asking for free porn artwork so that he could live a "happier life."

*rolls his eyes* Gawk! I can't believe people like this actually exist!

You're an artist who has every right to sell your services, no different from Chartered Accountants or Lawyers. Other professionals may choose to donate their time to a worthwhile cause (the accountants setup free tax clinics where the income tax returns are prepared for free, if your income is below a certain threshold -- usually at the poverty line). Lawyers do similar charity work where the profession provides free legal services for those individuals who cannot afford a lawyer.

As an artist whose sole income is derived from the work you produced, you have every right to charge for your work. I simply rolled my eyes at the emailer's threat of "going to hell" if you don't help him out, and describing you as a "capitalist." (For someone who's looking for "free" art, he sure has a nasty way to express his "appreciation" of the artist).

Emails like this opens my eyes to all the crap you artists have to put up with. This guy wasn't even a commissioner! He was looking for free porn! AWRK!

Well, enough commentary in your Journal. It sounds like you are enjoying BC quite a bit! I feel for my friend Jaxx Blackfox, knowing how much she enjoyed spending time with you and sharing common interests like the preservation of pit bulls in Ontario.

Our paths don't cross often, but for what it's worth, I'm wishing you all the best in luck and success as you build a new life in BC.

Good luck, and take care!
