I'm sorry for the loss of a special person to you. The things they did that touched your life, and helped make you who you are, will always be with you. Condolences to the family of course.
Funerals are one of those benchmarks of self evaluation we all must go through. It's what you see when a death unites in grief, beyond our pasts, and shows how human we are.

Your father seems to have issues with responsibility and for him to snipe at your not taking another one from him is sad. Seems to me you bought your freedom from him with the money he took from you.
Once bitten, twice shy, but family we can keep letting chew away.

Should she decide to rent out that room, ask your clinic if they can post the room on a bulletin board and include the fact you have pets there. Perhaps a person needing space will come to the clinic. Never know...
