[If they want to kill themselves, they should just do it. ]
If they wanted to, they would -- and do. Usually there are warning signs for true suicidal ideation (giving away prize possessions is one shining example) but those who are serious don't grandstand or provide numerous opportunities for people to come rushing "to the rescue." They just do it. Ask most any family that has had a suicide -- they'll say there were signs (in retrospect) that things were building but that the act itself took everyone by surprise.
Anybody who "threatens" suicide, especially with such oh-so-coincidential timing as has been repeatedly demonstrated against Jessie... well, it is little more than somebody attempting to exert control. This is a pretty classic case of using guilt, fear and 'forced responsibility' as a lever to garner attention and to hold her captive.
Congratulations, Jessie. You called him on his behavior. With luck he'll get the hint and slink off without further drama.

[Anybody who "threatens" suicide...]
Jay said it much more succinctly than I did, before I did. I should read the comment threads more thoroughly before I stab that "reply" button.
