Last weekend, Lex, Raptor, Pat, Intox and myself all went to Bluey’s place for a homecoming/sleepover thingy. Cos Blue finally moved out of her parents place in Stouffville, and is sharing a room with a co-worker of hers. Her room looks GREAT, and is decorated as only Blue could decorate it, with lots of dragons, and dark colors and cool stuff. :) Blue can make any room so totally her own. *grins* We also ended up going grocery shopping at a 24hrs A&P, at like 2am. There was this guy going around with a buffer machine. Damn those things are LOUD. And scary. O.o I now know why dogs bark at vacuum cleaners, cos I had the most incredible urge to start attacking the thing. I think the guy LIKED chasing people with the damn thing, cos Bluey and I ended up running for our lives all around the store. The guys thought it was amusing. :-P

They thought it was even more amusing when Blue and I got creeped out by the earwigs in her apartment. Her roomie leaves beer cans and garbage laying around, and it attracts the bugs, and the only two bugs that REALLY freak me out are earwigs and centipedes. And Pat kept on trying to catch them, and he lost one twice, after we said just kill the damn thing, don’t try to catch it! Lex made fun of us cos we were all curled up in a ball at the end of Blue’s bed, holding each other and doing the whole girly, “Ewww, bugs are icky!” thing. I slept in the middle of the couch that night. O.o I wouldn’t go anywhere near the walls. Rap and Intox slept in the van. *grins*

Also, yesterday at work was kinda crappy… For some reason we got stuck in the vet clinic, with no vet when a sick cat came in. O.o Orangey, this cat we had in for boarding just last week, came back in, and was pretty much near death cos he couldn’t breathe. There are two vets at the clinic: Dr. Szabo, and Dr. Stuart, who owns the building. Dr. Stuart was supposed to be in at 5pm, and it was twenty minutes til 5 and for some reason Dr. Szabo and the only other receptionist there left. We had no idea where they went… I don’t even remember either of them saying they were going anywhere. O.o And so we had this sick cat, about to die on us, with no vet around. Just Kimberly, who is another receptionist, and then myself, and all I do is Kennel.

Kim was freaking out, in tears, trying to get ahold of anyone, too scared to go out and tell the cat’s owners that there was no vet in. I was like, “Well crap... what the hell do we do?” and so Kim did the only thing she could think of, and grabbed the Oxygen machine, and started giving the cat oxygen. Luckily Dr. Stuart came in early, about 10 minutes after Orangey came in, and we told her we needed help, and she rushed back and got Kim and I to help her work on the cat. I held him still, the doc gave him a couple injections, Kim held the oxygen mask up.

Dr. Szabo and the other receptionist eventually came back… I have no idea if they got in trouble or not. I would imagine so, but Kim was absolutely hysterical, and she’s now threatening to quit. Which would kind of suck, because she’s really nice and I get along with her the best at work, but I don’t blame her for wanting to quit with all the junk she’s had to deal with from the other staff lately. :/ But yeah… that was really bad… they should SO have no just left us in the clinic by ourselves like that. >.< We’re not qualified to be doing that kind of stuff.

Getting ready for Anthrocon! Going to do laundry, and pack up and stuff when I get home from work tonight. Going to get my last piece done for the con. My website won’t be updated in time for the con like I was hoping for, because Wookiee got too busy… but he says he’ll update it after the con. I hope so. It REALLY needs updating. X.x I also didn’t have time to get as much artwork done as I wanted – only seven original drawings instead of ten – but oh well. Hopefully I’ll do well with sketchbooks and con badges. If I can at least break even what it cost me to go to the con, then I’ll be happy. One more day and I’ll get to see all of my friends again! I’ll also get to see my baby Gryphy!! ^^ *murrrs and dances around* I can’t wait! See you all when I get back! ;)

Ugh, what a stressful moment at work! Poor kitty - did he make it through?
So glad you get to go see your Gryph - give 'im an extra-big, smooshy hug for me, K? =)

Yeah, Orangey is fine now... though apparently he's having some heart problems. :/ I hope he'll be okay.

And I'll certainly give the Gryph an extra big smooshy hug for you. ;) *hugs ya!*

As a chap who drives such a floor cleaning machine, I am equipped to offer an inside perspective on our mentality ^_^ We are told that so long as we have the warning bleeper siren activated then we can't be sued if we accidentally (or purposely) run over fleeing shoppers.

Luckily, I am an advanced driver and a considerate and polite one, but I have seen past drivers who try to mow down consumers like bowling pins just for kicks. Sometimes they get sweet payback for their misdeeds though. Picture this for example: the true case of a guy in the store branch down the road from us who failed to apply the brakes soon enough to avoid driving his machine down a flight of stairs! Or my own difficulty (undeserved of course, being a nice fellow) when I reversed too fast and got the back end lifted off the floor and wedged hanging in mid-air from the middle of the dairy shelves :D
