That's awesome! I had no idea you did training work:) Would love to share stories sometime:) Yes, shepherds have amazingly.... mobile coats. Everyone rolls their eyes at me when I tell them how much fur Chaos is able to produce, and shrug it off because he's a German shepherd. If only they knew... Even with regular brushing (and by regular brushing, I mean pulling off 10-20 brushfulls a day) there is still fur EVERYWHERE! Yay for having a big dog, lol.

That would be really neat if you got into protection training. I had a few friends that were very involved in shutzhund training for awhile, though I worked more with strict obedience and behavioral puzzle solving after I left wolf park, and don't have a lot of first hand experience with it. We only used positive reinforcement when we were at the park since clicker training works great when you have 12 hours a day to work with the animal:P That, and you don't want to see what the aftermath is when you put a pinch on a wolf... *snickers*

Best of luck moving forward with that, sounds like you are really excited about it. Let us know what comes of it!

Yar, I love my job. ^^ And yeah, if you ever get me talking about dogs and training, I will never shut up. :-P It's so much fun.

I totally want to get my next dog into Schutzhund. I want to get a working bloodline Rottie from Germany, once my current dog passes. I'd get another Shepherd, but after my last guy passed away at 10 years old, (back legs eventually failed on him, as is the case with most Shepherds...) I think I need to wait a bit. But yeah, I am totally all about high working drive and competitive obedience. I love the discipline, and I'm glad that they are starting to use more positive motivation and prey drive with the dogs, than just triggering their defense drive.

Behavioral stuff is always a lot of fun, too. ;)

It was so nice to meet you, and spend time at FC! *snugs!* What other cons are you planning this year?

I so need to get those pics from ya, of the group photo shoot, the dance, and me Lace and Shep chilling on the bed. :-P Did you stick any of those on Shep's laptop? If so, I'm going to his place tomorrow. Maybe I should bring a memory stick with me.

Hehehehehe, you just get more and more awesome every time I talk to you:) Ask Perro, I won't shut up about dogs and training either:P I <3 Rotties, but I think, especially now, I am always going to have a soft spot in my heart for shepherds. My guy goes almost everywhere with me. It's rough though, he's 8, and knock on wood doesn't have too many issues other than being incredibly emo when I'm gone, but ya never know:/ He had panosteitis when he was a pup. Fortunately that was pretty minor, but I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop. Shepherds do come with the potential for a ticking time bomb:/
